Power Tariff Reduced Across Pakistan

LESCO Power prices

In a positive development for electricity users nationwide, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a significant reduction in electricity tariffs. These reductions will bring much-needed financial relief to domestic and commercial consumers amid ongoing economic pressures. The revised rates will appear in electricity bills issued in May 2025.

Breakdown of Reductions: Monthly and Quarterly Adjustments

NEPRA’s decision includes both monthly fuel cost adjustments (FCA) and quarterly tariff adjustments (QTA), benefiting electricity users in different regions of Pakistan.

For K-Electric Consumers (Karachi)

  • A reduction of Rs. 3.64 per unit has been approved.
  • This relief is based on the Fuel Cost Adjustment for February 2025.

For Other DISCOs Including LESCO (Lahore and Surrounding Areas)

  • A 29 paisa per unit cut applies to users of all electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) excluding Karachi, under the Fuel Adjustment for March 2025.
  • Additionally, a further Rs. 1.55 per unit reduction has been implemented under the third quarterly tariff adjustment for the ongoing fiscal year.

NEPRA has issued separate notifications for each adjustment, reinforcing the transparency of the process and ensuring that all distribution companies apply the changes fairly.

What This Means for LESCO Consumers

For customers served by LESCO (Lahore Electric Supply Company), this announcement brings double benefits:

  1. Immediate Bill Relief – The Rs. 0.29 per unit and Rs. 1.55 per unit reductions combined will lower the electricity costs for households and businesses starting from May 2025 bills.
  2. Improved Cost Management – With power prices being a significant expense, especially for small businesses and middle-income households, this adjustment offers some breathing room for monthly budgeting.

This is particularly encouraging for residents of Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Okara, who fall under LESCO’s jurisdiction and have been coping with fluctuating energy prices.

Conclusion: A Step Toward Economic Ease

These tariff cuts are a welcomed initiative by NEPRA aimed at reducing the financial burden on electricity users across Pakistan. While small, these adjustments collectively add up to meaningful savings over time, especially for heavy users and commercial setups. Consumers are encouraged to review their LESCO bills to confirm the applied changes and benefit from this policy update.
